We are all of us surrounded by the pressure to adapt to our rapidly changing world, whether at home, in our businesses or at our places of work. We aspire to not only achieve in our many ‘life’ roles, but also to seek an improved sense of fulfilment and purpose.
The pace of contemporary life, combined with economic, social and technological change means that this immense amount of change is unlikely to slow. A good example of this is when, over the years I’ve talked to many govt ministers, none of whom are interested in the concept of ‘consolidation’. All of them are driven by the need to rationalise and restructure, and this is reflected too in the fortunes of private and corporate sectors.
We are all by now, horribly familiar with the current global economic climate,with the UK teetering on the edge of a double-dip recession, public borrowing at an all time high, the massive cuts in public expenditure are really starting to affect consumption and public confidence.
All of this contributes to the need to develop the right mindset and skills in ourselves and our teams, regardless of whether we are in business or managing / leading in the corporate or public sector.
